peach tree problem
If you read this in another post, I am sorry. I didn't realize I had posted under someone else's comment until someone was kind enough to mention that I may get more attention if I start my own post. I have a peach tree that my son put in two summers ago. However, to make my yard prettier, I planted some annuals around the base of the tree last year while it had gone to fruit. The fruits were small in size, and we really hadn't expected it to get fruit yet. The tree shed all its leaves and the fruit dried up and dropped off. My son says it was too soon to plant around the base of the tree, that the flowers took all the nutrients out of the soil and that the tree is dead, however I still have hope that there is green under the bark. Is there any safe way to tell if it is still alive without causing it more problems ? Any suggestions or web links would be welcome. It was a mothers day gift, and I feel so bad about it.
