Tito has bought me this dear little wheelbarrow. More room for planting,i can,t wait. It won,t be today though as it is pouring with rain here in sunny Devon.Although i like fine weather so we can get out there to enjoy the fruits of our labours, the gardens really needed this. The ground in parts had become rock hard.
I am going to plant nicotiana and a couple of deep purple surfinia petunia,s in the wheel barrow, and just back beyond the handles in that small patch a couple of lavender plants. The planned planting in the barrow will make a nice foil for the hop in the backround. I love the perfume of the nicotiana,s and the purple surfinia,s also have a lovely perfume especially when it is humid which it often is here. We also have sweet peas coming up, night scented stock, lillies, garden pinks, some existing lavender,a yellow musk rose and we have just planted a Phyladelphus. I wish we could do scratch and sniff up here and then i could share the scents with you.
The herbs seem to be doing well, and i plan to try and sqeeze some more in if i can.We have sage margoram and tyme,i would like to add rosemary and some common sage. The existing one is variagated and very pretty. Being as it is such a small garden we try and get as much in as we can,and make every plant count.
The redesign of the front garden will have to wait until next year now as we have spent quite a lot on the back garden this year.We will just cut back the shrubs and keep it neat for now.I will have to get in some practice with this garden design program.
