My housemate is an avid gardener.
I, however, am somewhat of a novice. This is my second year with a vegetable garden in the backyard, after many years without. I used to garden all the time with my very experienced parents, who cultivated lilies and well, basically, you name it in our huge backyard in MA.
I now live in Washington State, which I believe is Zone 8.
Anyway, the debate is this:

Housemate can’t identify them, but believes them to be weeds.
I’m not sure either way but pulled them up and transplanted them into tree pots in our backyard. They’re purple and they’re pretty cool looking.
Any ganders as to 1) what they are and 2) are they weeds or what? You could save me many hours of incessant arguing on this one.
I like them enough to leave them in the pots, but I’m just curious ;)
