Plentiful Harvest! Many Firsts!
We harvested our broccoli and cauliflower today! I probably should have cut it down a couple of days ago, but I wanted to wait so that I could use my home grown veggies for the vegetable tray for my birthday party tomorrow! The have a few seeds here and there, but it still tastes great! I bought some Marzetti's Dill Dip to accent them. Besides that, I got my first tomatoes, sweet peppers and beans of the season today! I picked about a dozen Sweet 100 Cherry Tomatoes, 3 Sweet Peppers and nearly 2 dozen beans! I am going to put the tomatoes and sweet peppers out on the tray, too. I am freezing the beans so that I can gather enough to make "Dilly Beans". We are also continuing to have a very heavy cucumber and hot pepper harvest. I have a 1 gallon bag in the freezer full of various hot peppers, which we plan on using to make salsa and chili this winter. I am putting a few hot peppers out on my veggie tray to see if there is anyone daring enough to eat them raw! Of couse, I took photos of this bountiful soon-to-be feast: There are a couple more pics if you follow the link :) This is the most produce I've ever harvested at one time from my own personal garden.
