Plow Day May 1, 2010

The Jones Farm in Happy Valley on the upper Yadkin River in Caldwell County, NC hosts 3 events each year: Plow Day, Mow Day, and the Yadkin Valley Fiddlers’ Convention. On Plow Day, owners of teams of draft animals and antique plows meet to plow and hobnob in the cornfields along the Yadkin River. On Mow Day, enthusiasts of animal-powered harvesting machinery meet in the hay fields. Both Plow Day and Mow Day are very informal events. There are no officials to direct traffic and no crowds in need of control. If you’re ever in the area during one of the events and want to experience a peaceful, laid back event, come see the horses and mules.

I took so many pictures of Mow Day 2009 and Plow Day 2010 that I don’t want to post them all at once. I’ll post a few at a time. This set features a litle girl who got a chance to walk behind a plow under the watchful eyes of some very patient and kind horsemen.
