poison ivy help request riddled with elipses
i've discovered i have, what appears to be, a MASSIVE poison ivy vine growing up my fence. i've been in my house for about a year and a half, and last year i never spent much time near this section of what is now becoming part of my garden (the previous owner hadn't clue 1 on yard work and had left a giant tree stump to rot in this area). it's mixed in an overgrown mess of jasmine vine and such on the other side of the fence, near a bunch of brush at the far edge of my property (backs onto a mass of untamed trees and such - even more reason why i never realized the identity). it's kinda scary over there on the road side of the fence. the vine itself is a good 5ft tall and probably about 2-3 inches in diameter (super hairy vine, leaves of three, now starting to flower) like this. i had trimmed a bit off the top the other week, then a few days later had a couple bumps that itched. then a couple more a few days later. never had poison ivy before, so whoops.... now it seems to be sprouting quite a few new saplings. what i'd like to know is how in the hell i kill off this sucker without a) it growing back (say i cut it at the base) or b) killing myself by getting covered in blisters. any advice is appreciated.
