Poor Skills – Resume Padding for the PSW

Poor Skills – Resume Padding for the PSW

So I'm an out-of-work Personal Support Worker (in some places they're also known as Health Care Aides or Personal Care Attendants) and since competition for jobs is pretty stiff in my town, I've been trying to brainstorm ways to make myself more competitive. While googling for "personal support worker," I found the website of the Diabetes Society, and lo and behold, they are offering free workshops for health care providers about caring for clients with diabetes. Score! So now I'm writing to all sorts of societies (Alzheimer's, Cancer, MS, etc) to get information about upcoming workshops, information sessions and training courses. A lot of them seem to be free. Why didn't I think to do this earlier?! Anyways, I don't know yet if my idea is actually going to work in making my resume look shinier and happier, but I figure it can't hurt. At the very least, I figure I'll learn a lot of information I should probably learn anyways, so there's that.
