A dug up the first 50 square foot of Yukon Gold potatoes. These were planted in heavy clay, with about an inch of compost and plenty of rock phosphate, manure, and greensand. I continued to cover them with peat most and compost. Total yield was about 30 pounds less than the average for this space of 43 pounds so I consider this pretty much a failure. Now that all the compost is incorporated into the soil, I think I’ll follow the potatoes with carrots and beets after adding a little greensand and some more compost.
The sunflowers are just taking over, my daughter can’t wait to pich the tall one from her bedroom window, (center).
Can anyone tell me what this plant is, Its growing like a weed throughout my garden, and it grows up to six foot tall.
