Potted tulip question

Potted tulip question

One of my neighbors was given a pot of blooming tulips for her birthday recently. The tulips have finished their bloom cycle and have died back. She'd really like to put the bulbs out in her yard so that she can enjoy them again next spring. Since I completely fail at getting tulips to bloom more than once - ever - I told her I'd take the question to my trusty fellow gardeners here. So how should this be done? Do the bulbs need to be taken out of the potting soil and put into some other medium until fall? Does she need to let them dry out then put them in the freezer? Does she need to just take them out of the pot and put them in the ground now? Any suggestions certainly welcome. We're in southern Oklahoma - zone 7. Thanks
