Propagating mint?

Propagating mint?

How do I do it? I got a big old crazy mint plant on my dining room table that is, since I got smart and added drainage, exploding with growth now. I swear, during dinner we can just watch it grow…

And I want to give some to a friend, who wants some, and get it going in my back yard for ground cover.

I’m well aware of the vivasciousness of mint and areas we don’t want it are duly protected by rock or brick barriers and will be further protected by copious mojito production. (I’m actually hoping the mint and this awful, pernicious nasty looking ground cover stuff that’s out there right now will fight it out, and the mint will win…)

All that said…what do I do?

Snip a piece and stick it in a glass of water until it grows roots, like ivy?

Just snip some random section of plant with root and put it in water? In dirt?

Plant leaves, burying them, then do a mint growing dance?

Pour mojitos in the yard?

What? How? Help!!

I’m having no google-foo today and simply can not find a website that encourages propagation, they’re all on how to control it or grow it from seed…

Thanks muchly!
