Pruning tomatos

Pruning tomatos

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket I grow around 45 plants every year and have never pruned them. Well aside from dog tails and stepping on them. So here I am to pick your brains... I want to do a trial of different pruning and training methods on some of my plants. Its too late for the training this year though. I would love to hear any and every method you have tried. How was it beneficial or not? Will it effect the duration the plants produce? I pull the last stragglers around New Years. Do you get larger tomatos or higher yeild? Should I even bother? If it matters I grow them in 2' diameter 4' tall cylindrical cages constructed of hogwire. I have 8 or so different varieties this year all with unique growth habits. This could be fun!
