purple cone flower problems
Hello, Everyone, I am not a serious gardener like all of you, but I would like to keep the flowers around my house alive and well. A few years ago I planted a bunch of purple coneflowers because they seemed to do well in my sandy soil. The trouble is they look OK for about two weeks, and then all the petals started turning brown at the tips. They did this last year and I thought maybe I was watering them too much. This year I cut back on the watering, but they are doing the same thing. Any idea what caused this? Is it just part of their normal life cycle? I don't remember them behaving this way the first year. I live in central Minnesota, my soil is sandy, and they get a lot of sun. Thanks for any suggestions!
