Question

We tilled up a patch of grass last year to make into our garden and of course had tons and tons of problems with grass and weeds popping up which we just tried to stay on top of and pull but often it got away from us. This year we were hoping to maybe get a jump start on killing things off so that they will not come back. Would covering the area with black plastic like for a month potentially heat up the ground enough to kill off the seeds? Is there anything else that we can do that is organic and will not pollute the soil?
