Question about Charantais melons…

Question about Charantais melons…

So, a couple years ago I went on a field trip with my Hort 101 class. It was then I first tasted the most incredible melon I've ever had: a Charantais. Pale-rind with green stripes, dark orange flesh...if you haven't tried one of these, you should. They taste like candy. Mmmm.... Ok, enough drooling. I harvested some seeds from a tasty Charantais I ate last year. I planted the seeds this year and YAY! Melon plants! They're growing like crazy and flowering all over the place. My question is about pollination: do I need to hand-pollinate, and if so, can I self it or do I need another source? I am growing pumpkins and cucumbers in the same patch. I really, really, really REALLY want a few of these melons. It took me so long last year to find the Charantais melons (though, I know where to get them now). Any help would be appreciated!!
