Question about separating

I have a beautiful, thriving pink bleeding heart that I planted a couple of years ago in front of my house.

My mother in law asked this morning if she could have some, which I have absolutely no problem with. My question is this – it’s flowering all over the place. Can I do it now or should I do it before/after flowering?
