Quick question

Quick question

Hi, it's my first year actually having a garden to myself, so I don't really have my footing yet. My question is about storing seeds. We use compost in the soil from which viney plants began to grow so I decided to just leave them. After a while they began to develop yellow flowers, so I thought that they were either squash or melon. Then the fruit started growing and it looked like canteloupe, but with a squash-like look to them. There are about four fruit in total that have grown. One was canteloupe, the other is a hybrid between cucumber and canteloupe and the other two we're not quite sure what they are yet. I want to save the seeds and try growing them again next year, but I've found different instructions that are contradictory to one another(and that you really shouldn't try this with hybrids). For drying the seeds are you supposed to put them in a warm and sunny place or cool, dark, and dry. As for storing; open air or air tight? Any tips for getting the gel off the seeds? Thanks.
