Raspberries and kiddo’s first sunflower
Since I'm an amateur gardener and still learning the ropes, I lurk here a little more than I post. But, today I thought I'd share a few pictures of our latest triumphs. We're getting 1 1/3 to 1 1/2 pints every two days. The bush is a monstrosity, I know, and we plan to give it more support next year. It came with the house. Each fall, we cut it back. Each spring we pull out some of the shoots that have made their way into the other 2/3 of the garden and the yard. But it gets bigger and more productive every year, which our friends and family love as much as we do. We're giving them away and freezing them like crazy for winter berry dishes and ice cream! My three-year old (now four) learned about flowers in his pre-school class. Daddy accidentally pulled up his young zinnia plant so we quickly ran out and bought him some more seeds. He picked miniature sunflowers. I am happy to say that he did a good job planting and watering them. They are starting to bloom, and here is the first. I'll try to post another picture when they are all in bloom.
