hi, everyone!
i have a hydrangea question for you. last summer i planted a couple of hydrangeas in my backyard… they were fried in a matter of weeks, despite diligent watering, due to the crazy blazing sun in that area and unmanageable weeds. i figured it was a failed experiment and that i’d learn from the experience.
well… this evening i was out in my yard, and looked in that area… and lo and behold, it looks like those little suckers are back! i saw these little shoots coming out of the dead earth and stopped in my tracks:
so, here’s my question. i’m having that whole area of my yard professionally landscaped in a couple of weeks, so it’s going to be dug up. and i’d love to save the hydrangeas if possible, because they’re my favorite plants ever. i have another area of my yard that’s part shade where they’d probably thrive… but will i kill them to dig them up now, so young? if i dig deep and wide enough, do you think there’s a chance they’ll make it? or do i just cut my losses and let them get dug up by the landscapers…?
