Ready to harvest some basil: I’m nervous!
In the past week, my basil has gone *insane*. It is literally growing like mad. Unfortunately, during one of the huge storms we had, all of my markers were swept away so I have no idea which basil is which, but one of them is growing stalk like in all directions and has lept to being almost as tall as my tomato plants. I am most proud of this plant because when i bought it and put it in the ground, it immediately started to die. I honestly didn't think it was going to make it, curled over and droopy as it was. In little less than a week, it has sprouted extra stalks and is starting to resemble something more like a bush. I'm most worried about that one because it's actually bending under its own weight and I don'tw ant the leaves to touch the ground. I need to start harvesting it and all of the sudden I've gotten nervous about it. I've never grown basil before, so I'm not sure the best way to go about harvesting. Should I take it off the top or the bottom first? Should I take the stem and the leave or just the leave? How much is a healthy amount to take at once? How is the best way to keep the basil for a few days, in the fridge? Your advice is most appreciated.
