Renagade cultivar

One of the things I love about gardening is that sloth can lead to new wonders. My father lives alone in a largish house. He isn't much for landscaping or anything much beyond mowing the lawn every few weeks (yes. weeks). However, his girlfriend and I occasionally come over and decorate for holidays or whathaveyou. So last Halloween, I boght and carved a pumpkin and set it out on the corner of the door stoop to atract the local kids. The pumpkin looked pretty cool, and my dad left it out there, aranged with a few gourds from his gf's garden. I left town and forgot about all this. In April of this year, I decided to do some belated spring cleaning, fishing branches, etc. out of bushes, cleaning the gutters and so on. In sweeping the stoop I came upon a strange object which I finally realized was the remains of the pumpkin and gourds. It burst when I tried to move it and was all slimy and smelly and gross! I was in a hurry, so I just sort-of scraped it all off to the side (under a bush, no less), hosed off the area, and once again left town and forgot about it. There is currently a 20ft. vine with flowers the size of my hand growing across my father's lawn!!!
