Does anyone know of any organizations that provide one-time assistance, such as a past due month of rent? I'm really at a loss here. I'm trying to work out an arrangement for my rent, I'm at the verge of getting an eviction notice and having the locks changed on me. I applied to Modest Needs www.modestneeds.org, but as simple as I thought that may have been, it's looking like that won't work for me either. I passed Pre-Screening, but they are continously not happy with the documentation I provide from my property manger, and he doesn't understand why. They want a dated letter on company letterhead that says paying "X" amount of rent will bring my account to a zero balance. The problems are: -It technically WON'T bring my account to a zero balanace. Actually it just pays my April rent and keeps me from being evicted. I still have to make arrangements to pay other portions of the rent. -He claims he doesn't have company letterhead, and they won't accept just having his address and phone number. I don't know how to get in touch with the actual owners, we have always just gone through the building manager. So...this had become much harder than I thought...I'm in this tight jam of needing this amount and I don't know how to go about solving it. I just got a 2nd part-time job...and if I can get help with this one month of rent...I should be ok for now. So does anyone know of any other organizations? My church doesn't have a large benevolent fund and they helped me out once already. I don't have family to borrow from. My credit sucks too bad to try my hand at a small loan, I already tried with the credit union. I just need to face the possibility that Modest Needs may not go through for me...unless I can figure out a spectacular solition to my landlord letter problem. Any suggestions are appreciated. I'm pregnant and eviction is just NOT the cool thing for me right now.
