Renter’s Insurance & other tips?
I was just approved for an apartment I applied for, which is great news for me, because I've struggled to find somewhere that is safe to live in the city I just got a job in that was also somewhere that was within my budget. Luckily I was able to wait for an opening within my price range in a complex that had openings in the much higher range when I toured. Understandably (as they are one of the few apartment complexes in the more safe area of town) they don't have a lot of openings in the lower range, so I was lucky that I was able to wait and also that I was able to tour and apply right away. So I'm excited. This is my first apartment, and my first experience living on my own, with non-shared/non-included utility bills etc. though I have lived in college housing before. The apartment complex requires renter's insurance. I have found that I have so very many expensese associated with moving and I am preparing for all of my increased monthly expenses...I was rather hoping to avoid that one.Oh well, I at least want to try and get the best deal possible! I am looking for any tips on renters insurance. Where can I get it for cheap? Is there anything I should know about it? How much should I be expecting to get quoted for? (The apartments require being covered for up to 50K which is hilarious since I can't come close to owning 50K in stuff.) I am going to check with my auto insurance company to see if they will give me a deal since I already have insurance through them, but I thought I would see if you all had any tips for getting the best possible deal on renter's insurance. If anyone wants to throw in advice for first time apartment living (in the most frugal way possible), that is welcome too! Much thanks!
