Review of supplier: Johnny’s Selected Seeds

Review of supplier: Johnny’s Selected Seeds

In the past I've ordered my seed garlic from Territorial Seed Company (also a fine company) but this year I ordered from Johnny's Selected Seeds when I was buying seed for a few different fall crops. I am sure there was some specific reason I ordered from them instead this year, but I can't remember why I decided to give them a try. I'm glad I did. The prices and shipping costs were about the same as any other reputable catalog company, the shipping was quick, and most importantly the product has been very good. I received, only a few days after placing my order, several packets of seeds (kale, onions, shallots, leeks) which all had good germination rates and healthy seedlings. The garlic was to ship for fall since it wouldn't go in the ground until now in my area and I received my garlic today. They are huge bulbs with loads of fat healthy cloves that I'll be planting out this afternoon. I'd definitely recommend them.

Johnny seeds are very overpriced. I ordered some squash seeds and got two packets and the total was about 20 dollars with shipping. A week later i went to Menards and saw the same type of squash for 1.95 a packet. Their supplier is Burpee which is much cheeper
