My husbands friend (and his fiance) will be moving in with us for 12 months (the length of the lease) or until they can afford/find something of their own. I have (well, had) no problems with this, because we all get along really well. I was actually kind of excited, because it meant I'd have someone to entertain me (lol) while my husband was at work and asleep.
Now, just five days before we move in - I'm getting very nervous and anxious about a lot of things surrounding the fact that we're going to have roomates.
1) Her comment - "I'M going to do SOME decorating." I have no problem with anyone helping with the decorating. Especially because they (well, he) will be paying half of the rent. But it's the way she said it that really worries me. What if she tries to take over the entire decorating process? What if our styles/ideas don't mix and it causes friction? Really HOW MUCH say should she have over decoration when they wont be there as long as we will?
2) Now, I like these people. And I trust them. But how separate should our things be? Like: my lotions/body spray/makeup/shampoo - should I be able to leave that stuff in the bathroom? Or should I keep it in my room to keep things separate/make space? Also, how should the splitting of toilet paper, laundry soap, dish soap and things like that go?
I guess that's all the questions I have, for now. If anyone can give me any tips, ideas, or tricks for living with roommates it'd be greatly appreciated. This is all VERY new to me, hence the fact that I'm nervous.
