The weather is nice enough for gardening now. I had 2 roses in buckets over the winter, and I got them both planted. This time I remembered to wear my leather gardening gloves. My jasmine is covered with startling white blooms. It smells great. The sea lavendar (statice) is blooming like crazy too. I need to remember to dry some statice and some ordinary lavendar as well. The lavendar in the front yard is 'community property', which means the gardener they hire (and I use the term loosely) can take the weed whacker to it at any moment. I have two hibiscus to remove. They take too much maintenance and seem to have contant problems with aphids, and some bug that leaves whispy cotton on everything. Yes, I could spray. But it took a ton of spray last year, so I'd just as soon remove them and grow more veggies in that spot. I definitely want to put sunflowers somewhere as well. I find the colors so cheerful, and they are heliotropic, which I enjoy.
