Saving Oil but can’t compromise on temp for the apartment
Oil is expensive, as you can imagine, so I try to not blast the heat if I don't have too. When I was a kid, my mom was a single parent and I remember her turning the heat down pretty low at night (55 maybe). It was chilly but we had to bundle up in our beds and it saved her money and I feel like I slept better in those days. Nowadays it's the one of the few things my boyfriend, Will, and I cannot agree on. During the time when we're home, Im fine with the heat being around 70. I think it feels great! but when it's time to go to bed, I usually toss and turn and sweat my butt off because he wants the heat set at 68! Then when I remove the covers, I get chilled, so I cover back up... and then you can see the pattern...If I turn the heat down to 60 at bedtime, he complains he's too cold and it makes it harder for him to get up in the morning but I always feel refreshed. I asked for a compromise of 65 degrees at night (even that seems like it'll be too warm for me) but he won't budge. Then he says he'll just sleep next to the heater so he won't freeze--you know, in a sarcastic tone. Please...what do you think? Do you think I am being a scrooge? Do you think he's being a baby? How can we compromise? What do you do when you heat your own homes?
