School supplies…

Bookbags, specifically. My stepson is about to start first grade, and we know he's going to need a backpack. Any high-quality--and still cheap--recommendations? I want to get something we can see a good three years out of, if at all possible. (The Spiderman bag we got him for kindergarten fell apart in January.) I only have one stipulation. I refuse to buy Eastpak brand--every year from 6th grade until 10th, my mom bought that for me, and they always fell apart by March at the latest (usually zipper failure). Finally I talked her into getting me a Columbia brand bag, and it lasted me through two more years of high school and three and a half years of college before finally imploding. Should I just shell out for an LL Bean bag, with the whole lifetime guarantee (they're only $24, which isn't bad)? Jansport (apparently the most poular brand of bookbag ever, if Google search is any indication)? Should I stick with Columbia? Thanks!
