Scratched CD

Scratched CD

One of my wii games has a few light marks on it that are kind of scratch-like (they look like they should rub off but don't). I didn't notice until I tried to play the game and it said that the disc couldn't be read. I have no idea how this has happened since it's a new game I've barely played and it's been in a CD wallet. Anyway, I was googling ways to remove scratches and the 'best' seemed to be toothpaste/metal polish. I have toothpaste, but a lot of the pages said that there was no point doing it unless the disc was really badly scratched, and I don't want to wreck the disc beyond repair since it doesn't seem like there's that much wrong with it. So...suggestions of what you've tried and loved would be great. I don't have a lot of time or money at the moment so I'd prefer it to be something I already have in the house (which isn't much unfortunately...). <3 you guys EDIT: Thanks for all the helpful comments :) I live in the UK btw, should have said. Sorry!
