Security Deposits…

Security Deposits…

I’m moving in a month. From Orlando to Baltimore.

The good news is, I got a new job, and it pays a lot more than my old one.

The bad news is, I have absolutely no money, saved up or otherwise (expenses, you know, medical and living!).

My question: Does anyone know tricks around apartments, little fix-ups and preventative things you can do to almost definitely secure that you’ll get your security deposit back? Mine was a bit excessive ($1,000), and I REALLY need that money back, as it’s more than I could save up in the following month, and would help me with expenses.

So, any frugal fixer upper tips that would help the landlord see what a model tenant I was would be great. (How to get scuffs off flat-paint walls without having to invest in those horrendously expensive “miracle scrubbing pads”, etc).

Also, if anyone in the Orlando, FL needs smaller furniture, I’m willing to give some of mine away in exchange for you coming to get it. I’d rather give it to someone who needs it than sell it to someone who kind of wants it.
