Sewing Machine for Jeans
Heya everyone. So, first a little back story. All my jeans seem to develop the same exact problem, and I have no idea why, but they always develop holes in the corners of the back pockets. This was not always the case, it has only been in the last few years. Once the holes are there, they tend to catch on stuff and eventually rip all the way down the pocket, and are unwearable (but otherwise perfectly fine). For a while I would patch them back together with hand stitching, but it takes foooorever, and sometimes isn't that strong (because I only go over it once). This lead me to my current decision to buy a sewing machine specifically for this use (well, and others, of course). But I haven't had much luck finding good reviews of sewing machines out there, or any information on how well they could sew jeans. I would need to be sewing through 2 layers (sometimes 3) of regular jean denim. I've been looking at a really common Brother machine on amazon for about $80 (Brother LS2125I) or a Janome 2018 for around $120. The Janome sounds more sturdy and reliable, but I have not been able to find more than a single review page for them anywhere on the internet! The Brother is widely vouched for, noted for being cheap (obviously), but all the reviews are vague as to what they're actually sewing with these - they could all be hobbyists sewing light summer dresses for all I can tell. So, any and all advice on how I should go about is greatly apprecaited! (obviously budget is tight, and I don't think investing several hudned dollars in a great sewing machine is something I want to do). Thanks in advance! Later.
