I posted a couple of days ago about when to prune and do other gardening tasks. Thanks for the advice! This morning I went out to clip the dead ends off the climbing roses. When I got a closer look, I started wondering if maybe I'm dealing with a disease instead of just natural dying off over time. There's a white/gray layer to the bark (skin? whatever) of the limbs that looks suspicious to me, but for all I know, roses do this as they get older. Advice, please? ETA: Fixed one picture that I'd repeated.
