Sneaker Fixing

Sneaker Fixing

My previous pair of sneakers lasted me 7 years before it finally died due to me wearing a hole through the entire sole. I bought a new pair of the same brand. This is its second year of service. My right heel outer sole has come off the shoe. However, it is still connected in the toe, so it is this little black flap of plastic. It seems to me like one could just glue it back on, but I haven't a clue as to what type of glue or how to go about doing it. I know that you can take good shoes to a shoe repair place (I brought in my work shoes and they were saved for $10 rather than having to rebuy work shoes), but (1) my shoe repair place's owner/workman speaks enough English for me to ask for my heels to be fixed on my work shoes, but not enough for me to ask or receive a complicated answer to "Can you fix my sneakers?" and (2) it isn't remotely a similar repair. Does anyone know how to fix a flappy sole on a sneaker? I'd hate to lose this pair so soon as it is quite expensive to buy quality sneakers, and I use them as workout shoes where good shoes are vital. (fencing)
