So let’s put the pragmatic gardener to a new light:
Trees you don't want over the driveway: Birch - sticky droppings in the spring, impossible to get off a car without using chemicals Poplar/Cottonwood - ditto that. I call this a 'junk tree' and would recommend not planting it unless you are using it the way nature intended - it's a great ground stabilizer in areas with seasonal flooding - think the Colorado river canyons... Mulberry - fruit in fall is tasty, but stains everything. Will easily wash off your car, but the evidence of he birds enjoying the feast is a nuisance. SPLAT!
