Soap! makes my house smell really nice

My name is Sithy. I am a bit uncomfortable with sharing my real name on the internet, as it’s an uncommon name around here and I’ve had some bad experiences.

My age is: 20

I live in: The Netherlands, in the city of Groningen…which is located in the province of…Groningen.

My relationship status is: Taken, I’m together with a lovely man who is just as insane eccentric as I am, picture at the bottom of this post.

I live in a house…but only a 20 sq room is mine. I’m a uni student so I share my kitchen, toilet and shower with 2 housemates. My 20 sq meter room is my dinner room, my work room and my bedroom all in one.

My children and/or pets: I am childfree (i.e. I don’t ever want kids of my own, doesn’t mean I hate them!) but own 6 rats currently :) (For their house, click here. Yes, I do have male rats, they are just experiencing an identity crisis here.) I tend to keep their cage quite colour coordinated and such. Ironically, I am not quite so neat with my own house. Something I really want to change.

My obsession of the moment is: Soap! I’ve found a nice little site that sells home made soaps, and one of their soaps not only does wonders to my skin, it also makes my house smell really nice ^^

My favorite “guilty pleasure” is: Vegging out in front of my laptop, reading soppy fanfiction, while eating chocolate coated peanuts

My favorite domestic activity is: Cooking

The domestic chore I hate is: Vacuum-cleaning. Not just because it’s one of the few English words I always fail to spell right, also because with 6 rats I have to do it a lot. For some reason it always gets me very hot and sweaty and just..blah!

Are you a beginner domestic diva or an experienced pro?: Experienced in some areas (cooking mainly), but a complete and utter n00b in things like decorating.

I found this community through: Random search.

Random fun fact: I’m a thirdyear archaeology student that gets excited over dead things. It’s sort of hard to make your home feel ‘cosy’ when you’ve got bones lying around ;) I’m trying my hardest though..the bones are only a part of who I am after all.

My favorite recipe is:
Lazy Days Vegetarian Couscous salad (I’ve -never- done this recipe in English so bear with me.). It is one of the quickest recipes I know.

Makes around 4 servings, but I’ve calculated this based on big eaters

- Around 350 gramms of couscous, but you can use an entire 500 gram pack if you wish
- Two cans of chickpeas
- One 450 gram pack of frozen peas
- Two packs of cherry tomatoes
- Two packs of feta cheese
- Salt if required (depends on what brand of couscous you got, imho the feta is salty enough)

Boil some water (follow directions on your pack of couscous, some take more than others!), add couscous and chickpeas, let soak for as long as your pack of couscous specifies (usually 5 minutes). Rinse the frozen peas with hot water until all of them are a fresh shade of green and no longer frozen. Chop the cherry tomatoes in fours. Chop your feta cheese in dices. When the couscous is ready add your peas and cherry tomatoes. Stir well so it all gets mixed together, then add the feta.
This can be eaten both warm and cold.

If you want a bit more of a bite, I’d advise adding chicken. (One good sized chicken breast cut in pieces should be enough.)

Pictures!

This is the only picture of me that doesn’t show me up to my knees in mud, clay or whatever we happen to be digging up in. I’m a huge animal lover. This was on a trip to the zoo.

My guy with a few of my other guys ;) Not the most flattering of pictures I’m afraid. (I’ll hear about this I’m sure.)

And this is one of 6 pieces of vermin I have running around right now :) This is Baldr, he’s only 3 months old.

Once I get my room sorted out I’ll try and post some pictures. For now it’s just too messy and unorganised. Because I have fieldwork during the week there’s little time to clean, and the rats come first.
