southern oregon specific programs
hello, my mother has run into problems as a lot of people are right now and is looking into food stamps and so on, canceled her insurance, is declaring bankruptcy and is looking into whether she can keep her house. received the following emails in pertinent part: "I am looking into food stamps...Obama's mother was on it for awhile. I don't feel so bad now." when i asked if she has looked into the OHP because she has medication (including prednisone for rheumatoid arthritis), she responded: "the OHP is on a lottery system, because so many people apply and Oregon doesn't have the money, Only 26% of the applicant gets help. We all need to win a lottery. I'll get by...I just am glad that you are ok." my brother and i are sympathetic, but my brother has just started his career (he's 22) and i'm a law student living on loans, receiving add'l help from my father for my own expansive medical debt. my brother and i realize that when our careers are better suited, we would like to help, but right now there's not much we can do. does anyone know of any local southern oregon assistance programs of which my mother might not be aware? ty. ~edit~ in jackson county.
