Speaker scam + question
I'm not sure if this is appropriate to post here, but if it's not, it can most certainly be deleted. Two things. One, I wanted to alert everyone to a nation-wide scam involving a "company" trying to sell Theater Logic home speakers. They drive around in a white van with Florida plates, attempting to sell these speakers to people at a "low price" of around $600-400. They show you a magazine that has the speakers at $1500, but really, no magazine exsists. My husband actually was almost scammed by them, but luckily (kind of?), we are in debt and have no money to spend, so they gave us these speakers in exchange for a football he had lying in the car (I think the fact that my husband works in Security Forces...in other words, he's a cop for the Air Force, had something to do with it, too). They're nice speakers, but "Theater Logic" doesn't exsist as a company. Just wanted to get the word out, because it is a nation-wide scam, and I don't want anybody wasting money on it. Unfortunately, he didn't know it was a scam until he got home and did a search on the speakers. Doing a search on them turn up nothing but people saying how they were scammed out of $500+. Had he of known, he would have called the cops and let them know. Although, unless you have the scammers with you, or have a time where you're meeting them set up, the cops can't do anything, even with the plate number (or so the scammed people said). Now, my question (which, I apologize for in advance, is pretty gross). When my husband sneezes at home, he doesn't cover his nose (which grosses me out, but whatever). So now, the off-white carpet around the computer desk is stained an icky yellow color, and it's hard (as in crunchy). Is there any way to get the stain out without hurting the carpet? I've tried a million different cleaners, to no avail. Maybe a home-made recipe for carpet-cleaning that could work? I don't want to spend the money that we don't have on a steam-cleaner, or a home-carpet cleaning business, but if that's what I have to do, I will. I kind of want this taken care of before our lease is up (which is in a month) so we don't have to pay for any additional cleaning the apartment manager gets, though, and we won't have extra money to spend until sometime later next month (after our lease is up, of course. It always works out that way, doesn't it?). Thanks!
