spider plant

spider plant

I have a fairly simple question that I hope one of you can answer for me. A couple days ago I took a baby spider plant home as a party favor. The friend that gave it to me told me to place it in water until the roots have grown longer and then plant it. The plantlette is doing fine and its roots have grown to a centimeter long over two days. The problem is that at the end of this week, I'm leaving for spring break and won't have anyone here who could water the plant once I've potted it. Should I still pot it before I leave and hope that it will be alright after a week and a half? Or is it better off in the glass of water?
