Most of us like the look of masses of flowering bulbs in the spring. And lets face it for the nanosecond that a field of tulips is in bloom its a wonderful sight. Of course from the next day through a couple of months, they do not present a particularly attractive appearance. I usually pull every nth one and plant a nice size annual in its place, but I haven't ever come up with a succession planting that does a good job of making that space presentable while the tulips especially are dying back. Any suggestion of what works for you in this situation?
