Storage space in a studio
Hi everyone. I was really glad to see this community. I'm moving on July 1st. I've been living in student accommodation for the last three years, so this is the first time I'll be living somewhere and not sharing it with anybody. I'm quite excited. The flat I'm moving into is a studio. It's got a lovely main room, little bathroom and little kitchen (although the kitchen has loads of cupboards, so plenty of storage space in there). My problem is storage space in the main room. There'll be a bed, a desk, two chairs, a sofa and a coffee table in there. The wardrobe is in an alcove as you come into the flat. I don't have any other storage space and I can't put shelves up. I can get things that'll stand up, like bookshelves and chests of drawers, but while there's a fair bit of space in the middle of the room, there's not that much room along the walls and I think a chest of drawers standing in the middle of the room would look a bit odd. Also, I'd be constantly walking into it! Does anybody have any suggestions? I've been looking at children's bookshelves and drawers, etc, because they tend to be smaller, cheaper (I'm on a very tight budget) and more colourful. I like colour a lot. I'm also thinking of buying second hand and painting. But I just don't know what the best kind of things to buy are! Has anybody else ever had this kind of problem? What did you use for storage when you were living in a small space? I'll definitely be using boxes under the bed if there's room under the bed, but any other suggestions? Also, I'd like to get some of those pockets/pouches that you can hang on doors and inside wardrobes. Does anybody have any idea where I could buy some of these in the UK? I'm sure I've seen them before, but my recent searches have been fruitless. Thank you, and sorry for the length of this post!
