Stupid Gardener Tricks

This spring I planted a half a dozen leftover pumking seeds. Don’t remember the variety, Sugar something or other, and the description on the package said it would grow to 6-8 pounds, perfect for pies etc. When the vines grow strong and started to take over that part of the garden:

You can see its overgrowing al the plants around it including peppers, eggplants and various greens.
Well, I was thrilled a month ago when I started to see small green pumpkins everywhere. That’s one of the reasons I let the plants grow so big. This morning I saw some orange in the patch. As I looked closer I saw a number of mature pumpkins that I missed because of their size.

Its going to take a lot of these to make a pie. What a waste of space. Serves me right for not looking closed at the plants for the last month.
