We got Younger Son’s garden planted this morning. Gladiolas, tall Phlox, two types of Dianthus, Dwarf Coriopsis, Dusty Miller, French Marigolds, and a perennial I can’t remember the name of that we lost the ID stick/tag. He made the decisions on what to plant (with a little guidance from Mommy Dearest). I helped him plant all except the Dusty Miller and Marigolds. He planted those on his own.
After everything was planted and the bed mulched, it was time for a nice drink of water.
This is his first garden. He’s 11 years old and has tended the container plants for a few years now and I felt it was time he had his own patch of dirt to experiment with.
LOL He didn’t want to put mulch in it. I told him that’d be fine. I’d put the mulch in my garden and he could pull weeds from his garden instead. “Mulch!” he said. “I need mulch! No weeds! Please!!”
