The Next Generation

The Next Generation

We got Younger Son's garden planted this morning. Gladiolas, tall Phlox, two types of Dianthus, Dwarf Coriopsis, Dusty Miller, French Marigolds, and a perennial I can't remember the name of that we lost the ID stick/tag. He made the decisions on what to plant (with a little guidance from Mommy Dearest). I helped him plant all except the Dusty Miller and Marigolds. He planted those on his own. After everything was planted and the bed mulched, it was time for a nice drink of water. This is his first garden. He's 11 years old and has tended the container plants for a few years now and I felt it was time he had his own patch of dirt to experiment with. LOL He didn't want to put mulch in it. I told him that'd be fine. I'd put the mulch in my garden and he could pull weeds from his garden instead. "Mulch!" he said. "I need mulch! No weeds! Please!!"
The very first thing I planted this season.
