The Peas Have Sprouted!
WooHOO! Those Mammoth Melting Sugar peas I planted 3 weeks ago when it was stupid cold but the ground in my garden was workable anyway have now sprouted! They weren't up yesterday when I planted all sorts of other stuff but, they're up today! Yesterday's planting session included a whole bunch of stuff that says to plant "as soon as the ground can be worked." So, I've been sitting on my butt for a week or so. In the mix were about 10 distinctly different varieties of lettuce and other lettuce like greens, kale, beets, chard, spinach, cilantro and white icicle radishes. This afternoon I planted the other half of the peas and the dozen spinach plants I started indoors as an experiment with the light stands I built over the winter. I need the room they were using for other things I sprouted in trays recently and need to move into small pots. Outside the veggie patch the crocus are making a good showing and the daffodils have started to bloom. Hyacinth and tulips have greens up, as do the iris's we put in last fall. All of this and the forsythia hasn't bloomed yet. It's an interesting year. What's up in your garden?
