I procrastinated in getting cages on my tomatoes and now the plants are a sprawling, flowering tangled mess. Some of them I was able to put the biggest branch into the cage, leaving the rest to sprawl about. The cherry tomato is particularly guilty. Do you think it would be a bad idea to prune one (two, max) branches that are looking really hopeless and growing into their neighbors? I hate to do it because there are flowers (especially the cherry, again), but I would do it if it meant an overall healthier plant and more fruit down the road.
