Tomatoes

Tomatoes

Varitey is the spice of life... or so they say. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Marmande beef tomato vs. Pixie. And a group shot, since yesterday was the first day I could harvest all seven kinds of tomatoes on the same day. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Totem, Aisa craig, Marmande, Plum, Gardeners delight, pixie, and money maker Tastewise, Gardeners Delight is the favourite, closely followed by Marmande and plum. (But that was the first ripe money maker, so we've not tried those yet as it went into yesterday's batch of chutney.) Pixie and Totem are rather dissapointing in flavour. Very sweet and all, but just not my favourites not much character in the taste. Pixie was the first to start ripen, closely followed by gardeners delight, good early crop on that one, and money maker and aisa crage late varieties money maker only just starting to ripen. (But early varieties are still going strong.)
