Too early?

Too early?

I'm a litte worried I've jumped the gun. I was at my local garden center and was smitten with some strawberry starts. Is it too early to leave them outside uncovered? Should I be covering them up at night. They are, currently, in the sunniest location in my garden, but fear that I was too early with them. Also, has anyone heard of "rock dust"? There is an article in today's Independent newpaper (London) about this couple who uses this quarry by-product to improve their soil, and now grow magnificent vegetables and fruit. They were awarded a grant by the government to run proper trials on their growing methods with rock dust in hopes to do away with conventional/harmful fertlizers. An interesting read. http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/environment/story.jsp?story=622128
