Need help identifying a North Carolina tree. Found just outside of Johnston County (7B), growing mostly along the shoulder of the road but also in yards. Trees spotted as tall as 50-60 (?) feet. Has billowy white blooms and dark green tapered leaves. Reminds me of a very tall Crape Myrtle–even a Ligustrum–but not as compact or dense. Was told it may be a Chase or Chaste tree, but can find little to support this. Any ideas?
