troubleshooting rubber plant with weak leaves– advice?

troubleshooting rubber plant with weak leaves– advice?

I left my rubber plant with a friend for half a year while I went on an extended trip. When I went to pick up the plant last week, I found that it had several flimsy, weak leaves and that a few had dropped from the bottom. I'm not so worried about it losing a few leaves, but I've never seen flimsy leaves on a rubber plant before. The plant is very droopy in general, :S. Can you help me find out what might have caused the plant to form weaker leaves or what I can do to help it strengthen them? Thank you for reading. I sincerely hope you can help me help my plant get better. EDIT: It's the flimsy leaves that worry me. I have never, ever seen a rubber plant with anything less than flat, stiff leaves, but my plant now has quite a few thin, flimsy leaves. They curl in on themselves and add to the droopy appearance of the plant. They are very weak; it's almost like the leaves are curling down because they do not have the strength to remain flat.
