Two Questions

Two Questions

One, I have a pepper plant that’s making peppers. YES! However, this pepper plant is a hot pepper plant — something akin to a banana pepper, but I’ve forgotten exactly what, not a jalapeno — that grows yellowey-green peppers. But they start yellowey green. How in the world do I know when the things are ripe?

Here’s a picture of a pepper that I suspect is ripe. Is it, yes/no?

Two Questions

Two, my container plants have been exposed to a lot of rain. I must’ve done a stupid job planting them, because now some of the soil covering the roots has washed off, leaving the roots exposed. The only soil I can find to recover them is the pre-fertilized stuff that says it feeds plants for three months. If I just put a layer of the new soil on top, do I still not fertilize for three months? Do I blissfully ignore what the package says? Or do I just go ahead and fertilize?

I’m in Kentucky, which I think is zone 6.
