Unemployment Benefits Extension/Appeal
Hi Guys, Let me know if this has been asked but I couldn't find it in the tags/memories. I was laid off last June and my benefits ran out at the beginning of this month. I called in on Tuesday and usually the funds are direct deposited into my account by the following Thursday (yesterday). It wasn't deposited so I went to the local office yesterday and filled out paperwork which I believe was for the extension. I overheard them talking about how another woman needed to be switched to a new claim number possibly since it's trying to pull funds from her previous employer which is similar to my story. I just received in the mail today a form that was dated 7/16 and says I'm ineligible for benefits. It says I have a choice to file an appeal. I should qualify for the extension because in Chicago, unemployment is at 10%. I'm confused because do I need to qualify for the extension or file an appeal? Should I go back to my local office to figure this out or will it eventually work itself out? About how long will this process take? Any input is appreciated.
