Untouched Canvas

I’ve introduced myself before, but now i have some pictures to match. :)

I’m in zone 3 or 4-ish, in peterborough ontario (about an hour north of toronto). I have a massive, massive yard that is basically untouched. The consistancy of the soil is the stuff of gardener’s wet dreams, it’s filled with worms, and the yard has a wide mix of wet and soggy to fairly well drained locations. Much of the established gardens are in mostly shade to part sun, though i have much to work with that could be full sun. The driveway is about a 1/4 mile long and straight as an arrow (its an old railway bed), and i plan on lining it with cherry trees and lilacs on the west side. I have grand plans for the place in general, but have mostly contented myself until now with removing the lawn from the gardens, which were untouched for about 7 or 8 years, and putting rock edging around them to keep said lawn at bay.

The biggest problem with it is that its hard to decide on what i should do first, since its just so bloody BIG! I could put in a fully hedged labyrinth with a pond, a veggie garden, a herb garden, and secret passageways (that would be SO cool)! Most of the time i just kind of wander around, visualizing stuff that will likely never happen. But its fun anyway.

So here’s some pics. I mostly just wanted to show what i have to work with, but i wouldnt say no to anyone’s ideas either. Enjoy…
